July at Lake Russell

Fishing in July is not much different than fishing in June. It is always tough no matter where you are fishing. The heat of the day and the high water temperatures make the fish inactive and the fisherman must use patience to make fish react to the bait presentation.

The early morning baits were buzz baits and anything else that would cause the fish to react.

The mid morning baits were shaky heads and crank baits which produced a few fish, but not the quality of fish that the fishermen were looking to catch.

The afternoon was the same and a few more fish were caught but still the quality was not there.

The club in all caught fish but not many keepers were weighed in.

Bob Croxton took first place with 4 fish weighing 8.58lbs.

Jeff Borror took second place with 4 fish that weighed 5.08lbs.

Third place went to Eddie McCray with a weight of 3.55lbs.

Maybe next month on Lake Lanier we will find the fish that the FLW caught and bring in a few good sacks.
